Alyssa Rowe is a highly experienced Certified Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner. Although a Florida native, she started her career in cardiology as a Certified Nurse Assistant in Aurora, Illinois in 1993. She worked as a Nurse Assistant and Patient Care Technician in the ER, ICU, and Inpatient Cardiology Units at Mercy Center in Aurora, Illinois while attending undergraduate school. She graduated from Aurora University, Magna Cum Laude, and as a recipient of the John Alexander Leadership Award, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1996. She worked as an ER, ICU, and Inpatient Cardiology nurse for 14 years.
While working toward her graduate degree, Alyssa expanded her focus to include trauma care. She obtained her Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) and Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certifications. She taught TNCC to other nurses while facilitating the development of the Level II Trauma Center at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Florida. After graduating from the University of South Florida with her Master of Science in Family Health Nursing in 2012, she obtained her Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner, and has been practicing ever since. She became a Board Certified Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner in October, 2017.
Alyssa is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She has been with HeartCare since August, 2014. In addition to seeing patients in the office, she also has privileges at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, Manatee Memorial Hospital, and the Complex Care Hospital at Ridgelake. She has done volunteer work for the USF Virtual Simulation Center of Excellence & Clinical Education, Beth-El Farmworker Ministry, Inc., and Florida Suncoast Safe Kids Coalition.
Alyssa’s expertise extends beyond her vast experience and education. Patients have expressed appreciation for her thoroughness and attention to detail. Moreover, they always leave feeling well cared for. While Alyssa has a strong medical background, she is truly a nurse at heart and will take the time, make the effort, and spend the energy necessary to meet each individual patient’s cardiovascular needs.
